The Magic Bean Box
Collaborative Cover Project

TNO Magic Bean Box
is the project that T.N.O. presented during Transdmediale/05 in Berlin.
We've brought in the festival main location a lot of boxes containing a magic bean and the istructions to grow it.
The goal of the project is to create a network of magic bean cultivators.

Join the "Magic Bean Cultivator Network" sending a photo of your bean plant to:

G r o w  y o u r  m a g i c  B e a n!

Time:
15 minutes for preparation;
1 to several weeks for development.
Materials:
1 magic bean, 1 sandwich-sized ziplock baggie, napkins or paper towels, water, magnifying lenses.
Procedure:

  1. Soak the bean in water for a few hours before you begin this activity;
  2. Moist a napkin with water and place it flat in a baggie (the napkins should not be soaking wet, just moist, or the bean will mold);
  3. Place the bean into the baggie so it is moistened by the napkin but can be seen. You will be able to watch your bean sprout and the roots grow;
  4. Put the baggie in a warm place out of the sun (you can hang them from the wall with thumbtacks);
  5. Make sure the napkins stay moist (you should check every day).
    Finally you will watch the seed sprout and grow into plants! Magnifying lenses will help you see the tiny seedling parts.
